Itinerary:
Day One:
The Ahuriri Estuary with its protected birdlife and low-lying wetlands is a great start to your three-day leisurely look at beautiful Hawke's Bay as you cycle towards Taradale. After lunch time, visit the Mission Estate and Church Road Wineries. Your afternoon will be an easy cycle towards the stop-banks of the Tutaekuri River as you navigate your way around the Puketapu Loop, a favourite trail with locals and visitors alike. Return to Taradale at the end of the day for your overnight stay.
Day Two:
Today, all the cycling is taken care of in the morning with a beautiful ride through orchard and farmland country, following the rivers of the Tutaekuri and Ngaruroro to the world-acclaimed Ngatarwa Gimblett Gravels appellation. This afternoon is then all about the wine. Enjoy ambience of the many Cellar Doors, offering tastings and winery style food before your late afternoon transfer to your overnight accommodation in the vibrant village of Havelock North.
Day Three:
Join 'frisky' cattle who share the trail following the Tuki Tuki River as you make your way to the coast and the East Clive wetlands. The countryside is dominated by apple orchards, vineyards and market gardens, reminding you of this region's status as the Food Bowl of New Zealand. On reaching the outskirts of the city you will follow the Norfolk Palm lined Marine Parade to the centre of Napier, the 'Art Deco capital of the world'. Spend some time viewing the distinctive architectural style of the buildings before the final 5km cycle back to Ahuriri.
