The Deluxe Cruise is in both directions and the Family Pass can be redeemed for both as well.

I just spoke to the team at Waikato River Explorer.
It will be $34.50 for a child on the three hour cruise including lunch.

They did mention another option that could work as well. If you want, purchase the Family Cruise (1.5hours cruise) for $44.50 and then you can purchase lunch on board for $13 per person.
