- This is one puppet show that's definitely not for the kids.
Tell Elmo to cover his ears and get Grover to go to bed. This is a puppet show yes, but these guys sure can't tell you how to get to Sesame Street - they live on Avenue Q.
Get one ticket to "Avenue Q" at The Abbey Theatre in Palmerston North on Thursday, November 29th for just $35, including dinner.
"Avenue Q” tells the story of a college graduate, Princeton, who comes to New York with big dreams and not much money to find out that the only place he can afford to live is Avenue Q. Moving in he meets his neighbours who seem nice. Little does he know they all are a bit out of the norm ... and the Superintendent of the building is Gary Coleman - Hmmmmmm … got you wondering a bit?
“Avenue Q” is an ‘autobiographical and biographical’ coming-of-age parable, addressing and satirising the issues and anxieties associated with entering adulthood. Its characters lament that as children they were assured by their parents and children’s television programmes, that they were ‘special’ and ‘could do anything’; but as adults they have discovered to their surprise and dismay that in the real world their options are limited and they are no more ‘special’ than anyone else.
Due to the subject matter, “Avenue Q” is not appropriate for young children.
