Vidal Estate was established way back in 1905. More than 100 years later Vidal is still bringing wine, food and friends together, producing a wide range of award winning wines and delectable dishes. The restaurant is adjacent to the winery and since first opening its doors in 1979, as New Zealand’s very first winery restaurant, it has won over the hearts and palates of locals and tourists alike.

The winter set lunch menu is inspired by the Hawke’s Bay Farmers’ Market and Vidal Winery Restaurant’s food philosophy of using fresh, local and seasonal produce. You'll have the choice of which two courses you would like to try, a starter and a main or a main and dessert perhaps? 

For the starters you will have the choice of seasonal soup of the day or Vidal freshly baked ciabatta with roasted garlic and tomato dip. For the main, choose between a classic Vidal dish; salt and pepper squid and rocket salad or the pulled pork with white polenta and fennel slaw. Delicious sides to complement your two course lunch, for example, potatoes roasted with duck fat, garlic, and rosemary are available at an extra cost. For dessert choose between an affogato covered in Hawthorne espresso and amaretto with vanilla ice cream or a tasty treacle tart with clotted cream. The choice is yours.
