Thankfully there are a plethora of other wonderful things made from cheese, including the moon some believe. So we really can't think of a better idea than mastering the craft of cheese making yourself.
Grab a two-hour cheese making class for just $65 or a four-hour class for just $89 at the New Zealand Cheese School. Pick from the following options:
- 10 February at 2pm to 4pm: Fast & Fun Halloumi & Ricotta
- 9 February at 9am to 1pm: Intro to Home Dairy
- 10 February at 9am to 1pm: Gourmet Feta
Intro to Home Dairy: This workshop covers hands-on making of milk ricotta, sour cream, cultured butter as well as demonstration and instruction on making Greek style yoghurt, fresh cheese (Quark), and mascarpone. Tasting of products included as well as a gourmet cheese tasting from Over The Moon Dairy.
Gourmet Feta: In this workshop you will make the cheese of the day (feta), from adding starter to the pre-warmed milk, adding the rennet, cutting the curd, stirring the curds, hooping and turning, with instructions on how to finish off your cheese at home. Each workshop includes a demonstration of whey ricotta, as well as a gourmet cheese tasting from Over The Moon Dairy.
Fast & Fun Halloumi & Ricotta: You'll be shown how to make halloumi by the experts and then you'll get the chance to make your own, whilst making Ricotta along the way. You will be able to taste the end result in the class, as well as a gourmet cheese tasting from Over The Moon Dairy. 12 Places available.
