As of the 1st July 2006 it became law in New Zealand that all new puppies must be microchipped when registered with your local Authority at three months of age. Chip and register your pet onto the database to ensure their return should it be found wandering or lost.
It's a Dog's Life Grooming Parlour will have a Provet Certified Implanter available, providing certification for the council animal register, and can register your dog or puppy on the New Zealand Companion Animal Register for a fee of $15. A legal requirement for all dogs and puppies, microchipping is the most effective way of keeping track of lost or adventurous dogs. The simple procedure will ensure they are returned home safe and will help settle ownership disputes.
