Situated in the stunning Hauraki Gulf, Tiritiri is enjoyable 75-minute ferry trip from Auckland via Gulf Harbour. There's something special about this island: from the second you arrive to the second you leave, you'll be mesmerized by the gentle birdsong and the vibrant native bush. As one of the world's most successful volunteer conservation projects it's home to 12 of New Zealand's endangered birds, plus three reptile species have been re-introduced to the island. Take a wander on one of the numerous walking tracks - remember to bring some sturdy walking shoes and a camera to take snapshots of your fun filled day. This cruise is available Wednesday through to Sunday and departs from Auckland Pier 4 at 9.00am and Gulf Harbour at 9.50am.
It is vital Tiritiri Matangi remains pest free. Before departure, check bags for rodents & insects, & ensure footwear & clothing are free of seeds and soil. Please ensure your lunch is packed in a rodent-proof container like hard plastic. No open bags or boxes, all should be sealed/zipped closed. Chilli bins and zipped packs are fine, open shopping bags are not. If you are unsure please ask sales staff or boat crew. Please note there is no food available for purchase on the island.
